The Best Organic City Award 2024 went to BioStadt Bremen in Germany. On 23 September 2024, Claudio Serafini, the Director of Organic Cities Network Europe and Senator Kathrin Moosdorf, of Bremen Government for Environment, Climate and Science went to Brussels to receive the prestigious award. The award is one of the five categories under the EU Organic Awards, which were launched in 2022 as a yearly celebration to acknowledge excellence in the organic value chain.

Bremen is a member of the Organic Cities Network Europe and one of the German Biostädte (“Organic Cities”). With over 30% of farms certified organic, the city promotes sustainable food systems through community projects and innovative farming initiatives, empowering citizens to drive local change. BioStadt Bremen is working towards converting all municipal catering in schools, crèches, and hospitals to 100% organic by 2025.
