Statement by the Councillor for the Environment of the City of Florence Cecilia Del Re at the conclusion of the G20 of Ministers of Agriculture (Florence 16 -18 September 2021).
“Florence has been for three days the world capital of agriculture – said the Councillor for Environment and Urban Agriculture Cecilia Del Re – with a G20 that we hope has laid the groundwork for important shared choices that can no longer be postponed for the near future of our planet and our cities. An opportunity to relaunch the strategic role of cities as engines of change in the relationship with the territories and with all the activities related to agriculture, food production and their sustainability. A vision that can and must start from the cities to rethink the models of development and management with a push towards a more conscious and resilient approach”.

“Firenze è stata per tre giorni capitale mondiale dell’agricoltura – ha detto l’assessore all’Ambiente e agricoltura urbana Cecilia Del Re – con un G20 che ci auguriamo abbia posto le basi per scelte condivise importanti e non più rinviabili per il futuro prossimo del nostro pianeta e delle nostre città. Un’opportunità per rilanciare il ruolo strategico delle città come motori del cambiamento nel rapporto con i territori e con tutte le attività legate all’agricoltura, alla produzione alimentare e alla loro sostenibilità. Una visione che può e deve partire dalle città per ripensare i modelli di sviluppo e gestione con una spinta verso un approccio più consapevole e resiliente”
